Position Title: RAES Support Staff

SUMMARY
The RAES Support Staffs job is to assist in teaching a diverse population of children in an atmosphere of kindness that encourages active inquiry, fosters individual growth, and promotes respect for self, others and the world in which they live. In that all students learn the basic and essential skills at each grade level.
DUTIES
Greet and wand students every day.
Work with students on their student education plan/IOEP to set and reach goals.
Work closely with and maintain regular communication with RAES director and staff.
Work with teacher in planning and implementing a program of instruction that adheres to the school’s
philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in the adopted chapter.
Work with the teacher in planning and implementing a program of study designed to meet individual needs of the students.
Work with the teacher in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.
Work with the teacher in encouraging student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of good study habits.
Work with the teacher in providing progress through authentic observations.
Use effective oral and written expressions.
Work with the teacher in recognizing learning problems and make referrals as appropriate alongside the teacher.
Assist on the ongoing curriculum revision process, including inquiry based multi-aged education.
Work with the teacher in developing, in accordance with school guidelines, reasonable rules of classroom behavior and appropriate techniques that are consistently applied.
Work with the teacher in taking necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Share responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in all areas of the school.
Work with the teacher in providing for the supervision of assigned students when circumstances require a brief absence from the assignment.
Uphold and enforce Regional of Education #33 policy, administrative procedures, and school rules.
Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
Strive to communicate the positive aspects of our school program to the public in work and deed.
Work cooperatively with parents to strengthen the educational program for their children.
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with staff members.
Continue professional growth through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
Cooperate with administration in planning appropriate in-service training programs at school.
Attend staff and committee meetings as required.
Work with the teacher in evaluating accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods such as kid-watching notes, as teacher and student made rubrics, samples of students’ work, master skills checklists, criterion-referenced tests and norm-referenced tests.
Work with teacher in making appropriate adjustments in the instructional program as required.
Respect the confidentiality of records or information regarding students, parents, and teacher in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws.
Keep classroom and school environment clean and tidy at all times.
Meeting with all students regularly.
Maintain regular attendance in all classrooms in the RAES program.
May be required to perform other tasks as assigned by Principal or Regional Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate’s Degree from regionally accredited institution of higher education; completed 60 hours of college credit at a regionally accredited institution of higher education; passed the ETS ParaPro assessment; of passed the applicable ACT WorkKeys assessments.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age
3. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
4. Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
5. Ability to communicate to students, volunteers and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
6. Must be detailed oriented.
7. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public.
8. Enforce ROE regulations and policies in a professional manner.
9. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
SCHEDULING
The position is scheduled to work 7:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. based on RAES Calendar+ professional development days. The schedule is subject to change with ROE demands. .
