The School of Music invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor in Bassoon. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position to begin August 16, 2024.
Duties: Teach applied bassoon to undergraduate and graduate students; conduct weekly masterclass and reed-making class; teach bassoon pedagogy and literature; teach bassoon in the Double Reed methods course; coach chamber music; actively recruit for the bassoon studio; participate in School of Music audition days; perform with the Faculty Woodwind Quintet. Additional courses may be assigned according to the successful candidate’s areas of specialization and curricular need.

It is housed in the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts, along with the School of Theater and Dance, the Wonsook Kim School of Art, and the Program in Creative Technologies. The School of Music has an enrollment of approximately 360 music majors: 300 undergraduate and 60 graduate students, with 52 full-time faculty and 40 graduate assistants.

Required Qualifications1) Master's Degree in Bassoon Performance
2) State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position
1) Doctorate or professional equivalent is preferred
2) Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level is highly desirable
