Position Title: Instructional Assistant- Lower School
FLSA Classification: Part Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Dean of Faculty
Essential Functions:
- Support the delivery of high-quality lessons and units in line with curricula of the school with the aim of addressing the varied learning needs of individual students and educating the whole child
- Support core teachers in student’s educational opportunities that need additional staff support such as field work and expeditions.
- Collaborate with and support the core teachers in representing the school to families and the school community.
- Provide support in delivering instruction as directed by the lead teachers.
- Co-teach lessons when needed and provide classroom management support.
- Collaborate fully with co-teachers to create and deliver curriculum consistent with the schools’ mission
- Employ varied approaches to support student progress and student behavior on an ongoing basis
- Provide formative and summative feedback on progress to students and parents in a timely manner
- Maintain up-to-date documentation regarding student skills, progress, and knowledge in accordance with school-established guidelines
- Follow-up on parent communications within 24 hours in conjunction with the lead teachers.
- Help in organizing and carrying out fieldwork and project-based studies to support the curriculum as needed
- Take on other duties such as morning and lunch supervision

Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education or related subject is preferable
- A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of the schools
- A clear enjoyment of working with children and outstanding interpersonal skills
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking in English, including excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to work well with students and colleagues and a willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the CommuniTEA
- Commitment to equity and inclusion
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Willingness and ability to work in a demanding environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
- Work primarily in outside weather conditions consistent with Lake Tahoe area weather conditions
