TITLE: Community School Instructional Aide (Part-Time)

LOCATION: Lawndale (Penn and Dvorak School)
Job Summary: The overall responsibilities of this position are to support the Lead Activity Instructor in the daily planning, implementation, and maintenance of the 21st CCLC Community Schools program activities. The program promotes academic achievement and supports the emotional and social development of participants. Program activities will include aspects of teambuilding, cooperative learning, social emotional development, and leadership development. Temporary 1year position, January to June 2024
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist Lead Activity Instructor in the development and instruction of the Community School enrichment activities: Activities must be interactive, creative, and combine different learning approaches.
- Maintain effective communication with the Lead Activity Instructor and the Resource Coordinator.
- Assist and participate in the Community School program activities at assigned site.
- Assist in the instruction of academic activities in the content areas of math, literacy, and science.
- Assist in the instruction of enrichment activities that include aspects of teambuilding, cooperative learning, social emotional development, and leadership development that is culturally relevant and affirming.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of the program’s participants through a strength-based approach.
- Serve as a member of the Community School program team by participating in weekly staff meetings and professional development trainings during non-program hours.
- Carry out additional job-related duties as may be directed by immediate supervisor
Education and Experience:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year experience working with urban youth in educational settings.
- Desire to have a positive impact on children and youth.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to assist in resolving challenging situations productively and without personalization.
- Ability to manage time and classroom.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Show willingness to work evenings, night and weekends.
- Submit to and clear a background check.
This is a part-time non-exempt position.
Availability Tuesday-Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm and Mondays from 2:00pm-6:00pm
Temporary January to June 2024
Hourly rate: $18- 19/per hour (up to 16hrs/week)
