Installer

Position Description:

The Installer role assists with delivery, assembly, and installation of office furniture within client facilities, including systems furniture, case goods, accessories, wall-hung units, etc. This position is responsible for the timely completion of work with a high level of workmanship and a high degree of customer satisfaction.

This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position. The work schedule for this position changes daily based on workload however, the start time is generally early morning. The total amount of hours worked per week is generally 40 hours per week but varies based on workload with the busiest season being the summer. This position also requires weekend and evening work on an intermittent basis, based on workload. Hourly pay rate is based on skill and expertise. DOT Certified Drivers have the potential for a higher starting rate. 

Below is a list of responsibilities that are associated with this position. These guidelines may or may not include all specific duties entailed with this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand basic installation processes: unloading, loading, staging, uncartoning, panel assembly, component assembly, cleanup and detailing, lock installation, etc.
  • Report to work on time, as scheduled, ready to work including company uniform and safety-toe boots.
  • Carefully load, unload, and transport products/tools on and off box trucks while docked or parked, and into customer location.
  • Ensure safe and careful carrying/transportation techniques are used, paying close attention to stair-carry and team lift situations.
  • Carefully inspect the product for concealed damages and report any damages to the Installation Team Lead for documentation.
  • Communicate task status and problems to the Installation Team Lead in a timely and clear manner.
  • Assemble and place furniture in the predetermined location; level per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Clean and wipe down all products, empty drawers of any packing materials such as tape on the file bars, and leave any instructions for the customer.
  • Maintain a clean work site by removing recycling, trash, and obstructions in an organized manner.
  • Ensure all tools and delivery equipment are stowed safely for the return trip.
  • Maintain a complete set of tools per the Required Hand Tools list (included below).
  • Take ownership of assignment results and details?follow through to the assignment?s finish.
  • Builds product knowledge and understanding of product lines, specifications, finishes, and descriptions.

  • Can work irregular hours, extended shifts, and weekends as required.
  • Has the physical strength and stamina required to lift and move furniture, boxes, and equipment.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, bending, crouching, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate hand trucks, dollies, and panel carts.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools for furniture assembly.

Additional Details:

  • Range of Travel ? Typically our work area remains in Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia, and Virginia but is not limited to those specific regions.
  • Douron provides transportation from its Main Facility to each job site?this drive time is paid. Upon completion of the workday, the drive time back to the facility is unpaid except for the driver of the vehicle. Installers are not required to perform any additional work upon arrival to Douron. In the event there is work available upon returning to the warehouse the employee will be paid for the return drive time along with any additional time that work is performed.
  • Work environments can range in temperature depending on the current weather conditions. These conditions may also vary depending on the locations of the area of work, outside versus inside, etc.
  • All warehouse, delivery, and installation department employees are required to wear uniforms. The uniform consists of a shirt, pants, and a jacket. The employee is responsible for the cost of these uniforms.
  • To ensure the safety of our warehouse, delivery, and installation employees, Douron requires that work boots with a safety toe (steel, composite, etc.) be worn at all times.

Required Hand Tools:

  • Toolbag or box big enough to accommodate the items in this list
  • Cordless screw gun with clutch (impact guns are not acceptable unless the user is qualified to use it properly without damaging the product during assembly)
  • Small drill bit index
  • Assortment of bits for use with magnetic bit tip holder:
    • Phillips bit sizes 1, 2, and 3
    • Square bit sizes 1, 2, and 3
    • Hex or Allen bits in various sizes
    • Torx bits in various sizes
  • Nut drivers ranging in size from one-quarter (1/4) to one-half (1/2) inch
  • Flat- and Phillips-head screwdrivers
  • 12? level (Torpedo level)
  • Pry bar
  • Hard and soft hammers
  • Twenty-five (25) foot tape measure
  • Adjustable wrenches, small and large
  • Pliers
  • Channel locks
  • Utility knife with spare blades
  • Set of standard and metric-size wrenches
  • Small socket set with a ratchet wrench, standard, and metric-size
  • Quality hacksaw with spare blades

Any project requiring large or specialty tools such as a hammer drill, band saw, portable table saw, circular saw, reciprocating saw, hole saw, etc. will be provided by the Company.
