ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Performs pulling-end operations during cable installations.
- Reads construction prints and properly identities cable types and sizes.
- Maintains contact by radio and/or flag signal with crew members at the feeding end.
- Operates hydraulic equipment (such as load luggers, crane cable haulers, rodder/pullers, lift gates, winch cable pullers, backhoes, and air compressors).
- Drives trucks up to 55,000 lbs.
- Ensures that truck stock and tools are kept in optimum supply and condition.
- Sets up work area protection in accordance with OSHA and company regulations.
- Works in manholes of all depths, around energized equipment, and cables, and near heavy vehicular traffic.
- Assures that work performed conforms to specifications and safety practices and regulations.
- Performs any other duties required to complete a job.
COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS:
- Performs cable installation operations such as installing rigging in conduit systems.
- Familiarity with preparing various clerical documents such as cable reports and time sheets.
- Demonstrated ability to operate equipment.
- Properly dress and remove PPE and cover ups when appropriate.
- Willingness to work during emergencies.
- Willingness to work in adverse weather.
- Ability to operate tablet.
- Clear communication.
- Positive attitude and the ability to work well with others.
- Customer service skills.
- Self-motivation with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Commercial Driver’s License Class A
- 2+ years related work experience or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
- Transformer / substation entry or ability to become trained and qualified.
- Manhole / Confined space entry or ability to become trained and qualified.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Must be able to work in manholes of all depths, around energized equipment, and cables, and near heavy vehicular traffic.
- Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
- Employees must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform key duties.
- Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of hand power tools.
- Work at elevated heights and/or in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds personally, and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, lumber and other construction materials, power tools, and hand tools.
- Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
- Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
- The work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
- Employees regularly work near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel.
