Job Summary: The REMOTE position entails meticulous coordination and execution of installations, primarily in optometry/medical office environments. Key responsibilities include proactive communication with the install location point of contact, thorough pre-installation validation, and ensuring the availability of all required equipment. Technicians are tasked with reviewing validated installation documents, participating in virtual site surveys, and documenting measurements for integration needs. Installation duties encompass structured cabling, comprehensive testing of components, installation of PC/tablet systems, and secure mounting of various items on diverse surfaces. In addition to technical proficiency, technicians are expected to possess a deep understanding of network configurations, adept troubleshooting skills, and the ability to conduct thorough connectivity testing. Essential professional attributes for success in this role include adaptability, effective problem-solving, clear, and concise communication skills, discretion in decision-making, and consistent organizational prowess. The nature of the position demands extensive national travel (Based near a large airport with direct flight access to most of the US) up to 100%, involving air travel and rental cars. The role is hybrid, with the technician required to be available via laptop in a professional home or designated office setting, except during travel and installations. Overnight stays exceeding 90% are anticipated. A valid US driver's license and passport are mandatory prerequisites for this role. The technician is expected to consistently project a high level of professionalism and corporate image, particularly when interacting with third parties.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Installation Coordination:
- Work with implementation coordinator (IC) to validate the details of the installation and align on expectations of the install process and timeline.
Confirm with IC the below:
- Install time(s), number of days and hours to install.
- Pre-test (PT) and Exam Lane (EL) room to be cleared (equipment to include, non-interfaced assets, contact lens case(s), etc.)
- Confirm all equipment for installation is present, if not present confirm that tracking shows delivery prior to installation.
- Install days have been cleared and free of patient exams.
Preparation and Execution:
- The technician will review the installation documents and plans that have been validated by the Field Services Manager to ensure (FSM) the technician will arrive with the necessary supplies and tools to perform the job in a timely manner.
- Return the cleanliness of the location to its original condition or better.
- Remove all trash from the work site and take photos.
- Attend and participate in Virtual Site Surveys with clients. Responsible for participation in the capturing of measurements, creating hand drawings, noting any integration needs, and flagging any concerns or considerations related to equipment and software installation. Occasionally responsible for visual files/CAD drawing creation.
- Provide End Of Day EOD updates, flagging any concerns to FSM, Implementation Manager/Coordinator.
Installation/Maintenance Tasks:
- Install, terminate, and test/evaluate structured cabling components including copper, connectors, and patch panels, junction boxes/covers.
- Fill out installation checklist 100% and validate accuracy. Take photos of final work product via smartphone and input the data in ERP mobile application no later than one business day after completion.
- Install PC/tablet(s) and their systems which enables interfacing with DO/Client supplied equipment and legacy installed equipment/components in the PT and EL rooms.
- Mount bulky items (TV(s), Mirrors, Charts,) on but not limited to, walls, sheetrock, concrete, brick.
- Based on confirmed technical drawings; assemble, disassemble, relocate, and configure:
- Medical instrument stands/tables
- Equipment cabinets
- Ancillary power supplies, unmanaged switches, cables, interface adapters, equipment arms, medical chairs and chair arms, wire management devices, webcams, and miscellaneous video conferencing items.
- Use of volt/ohm meter, network cable tester.
- Understanding of WAN, LAN configurations/setup PC networking mapping configuration regarding:
- Test and troubleshoot connectivity issues within the WAN, LAN.
- Change network adapter settings and interfacing between USB, Serial, Ethernet, Bluetooth, etc.
- Understand several types of connectivity such as USB, USB Mini, VGA, HDMI, Display, Mini Display, etc.
- Perform file backups, test and evaluate existing network systems.
- Connect devices to server systems that communicate on a network.
- Understand how to configure port settings for Serial, USB, and Ethernet communication.
Other Skills:
- Possess proven skills of; adaptability, problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write and perform oral communication in English.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement in execution of duties.
- Plan and organize in a reliable and consistent manner.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with management, staff members and third parties such as clients and vendors.
- Always maintain a high professional corporate image with third parties.
Travel Requirements:
- National Travel up to 100%

- Hybrid role position, except for time required for field travel. Outside of travel and installations, technician needs to be available via laptop in a professional office setting (Home or DO Location).
