As the Licensing Inspector you will help investigate complaints and self-reported incidents regarding services provided by the ISS provider.

HHSC does substantial work in accommodating the long-term needs of older Texans by ensuring the safety and dignity of people who live in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, finding independent housing and jobs for Texans with disabilities, and leading medical research projects on infectious diseases. They work to make all Texans safer.
Job Scope:
- Conducts licensure and/or certification inspections and investigations using applicable protocols, state regulations, and appropriate policies and procedures in an effective, thorough, and professional manner.
- Conducts surveys and follow-ups as scheduled by the Program Manager Conducts complaint/incident investigations.
- Accurately determines compliance with DAHS ISS state licensure and/or certification regulations. Recommends appropriate actions based on information gathered during the course of surveys/investigations.
- Writes statements of violations in accordance with the Principles of Documentation. Coordinates all aspects of surveys, investigations, and inspections.
Requirements/Expectations:
- At least 2 years of experience in regulatory services preferred or in investigations, such as adult protective services, paralegal. Etc...
- Knowledge of Regulatory Services policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and rules related to long-term care facilities.
- Knowledge of or experience in long-term care regulatory services including surveys, investigations, and or enforcement.
- Ability to conduct complex on-site facility inspections for compliance determinations.
- Ability to compose professionally written correspondence and legal material. Ability to analyze documents.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, plan, organize and monitor work.
- Knowledge of state regulations for DAHS and ISS providers.
- Knowledge of the principles and methods of field surveys/investigation and quality assurance
About this position:
- Project Term: ASAP – Aug 31st, 2023; potential for extension/permanent placement.
- Rate: $21.00/hr.
- Location: Remote to Houston, TX only (some travel into local offices may be required).
- Days/Hours: Monday through Friday, 8-5.
