Inspection Technician - Roaming / Quality Assurance - 1St Shift

GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE INSPECTION TECHNICIAN

Perform Quality Assurance activities to ensure product conformance. Primary responsibilities include inspection and testing, problem resolution, line audits, and quality-related support to Manufacturing, Engineering, and other departments. This position may also perform verification of corrective actions and line audits. Depending on assignment, the focus may be on incoming product, in-process product, or finished parts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Follow all safety rules.
2. Inspection. Conduct inspections and/or tests to verify product conformance. Depending on assignment, may work with set-ups (grain flows), parts in process (heat treat inspection), finished product (final inspection, including embrittlement and drive torque tests), subcontracted parts, or tooling.
3. Writes IMI on parts that do not meet specification. Makes sure discrepant product is tagged. Completes all re-inspections. Communicates with responsible departments, and or suppliers regarding any discrepancies.
4. Problem resolution. Report nonconformance's and with assistance, determines dispositions and process deviations. Initiate, or take a key role in problem resolution, improvement activities, and prevention measures.
5. Auditing. Perform ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 14001, IATF16949 Internal Audits, or other internal audits as required. Assist Supervisor during external audits including responding to corrective actions.
6. SPC. Perform and/or support SPC activities.
7. General assistance. Provide assistance, information, and instruction to quality department personnel and other departments on quality-related issues.
8. Documentation. Initiate, complete, or verify records documenting Quality Assurance activities to assure compliance to internal procedures, customer requirements, and ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 14001, and IATF16949 standards.
9. Maintain clean, orderly work area.
10. All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

1. Ability to read production drawings and customer prints.
2. Advanced ability to use computers and knowledge of appropriate software to analyze data, and assist in the decision making process based on the results.
3. Solid understanding of fastener characteristics and fastener defects.
4. Proficiency with gages, measuring equipment, and testing equipment including but not limited to micrometers, tri-roll gages and optical comparators.
5. Proficient in analyzing GD&T.
6. Ability to effectively communicate with other departments, and customers to solve problems.
7. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes in the fastener industry.
8. Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 14001, TS16949 requirements, customer requirements, and TQM principles.
9. Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures.
10. Required Hs Diploma/GED OR Relevant experience.
11. Fluent in English (both strong verbal and written communication skills).

1. Advanced computer skills.
2. Post High School training in a related field
3. Knowledge of SPC
