Job Title: Inside Sales Representative

Department: Philadelphia Inside Sales

Location: Wilmington, Delaware

Reports To: Inside Sales Manager


Job Overview:

Inside Sales position for a leading distributor of Compressed Air and Heat Transfer Equipment in the Industrial markets in Philadelphia PA. Inside Sales activities include fielding customer inquiries; understanding and applying reciprocating and rotating compressor equipment and parts; preparing customer proposals; trouble-shooting and problem solving, supporting pre-order and post-order processes; and building relationships with customers and principals. This position requires a motivated individual with a high level of organization and technical expertise to sufficiently support internal and external customers. Essential characteristics for this position include excellent communication skills, teamwork, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a customer service role for mechanical equipment is a plus*
  • Excellent computer proficiency is required, advanced Microsoft Excel preferred*
  • College degree or administrative experience in a business environment preferred*
  • Must be able to pass background and reference checks, as well as a drug test


Scope of Responsibility:

Inside & Outside Sales and Service work together to develop plans, strategies, tools, and work practices to drive sales and profitability by providing cost-effective solutions to their customers. Specific roles and responsibilities of Inside Sales include:

  • Product and market expertise.
  • Effectively communicate with a broad array of customers including engineering, maintenance, and purchasing staff.
  • Provide professional and prompt responses via phone, fax, email, in-person, etc.
  • Review and evaluate technical specifications (industrial).
  • Prepare quotations and proposals and execute a follow-up process utilizing company tools and guidelines.
  • Enter purchase orders into NetSuite and place orders with manufacturers using their systems and procedures as well.
  • Expedite orders as needed to meet customer requirements. Facilitate communication and provide status updates to customers and sales engineers as needed.
  • Provide technical & administrative assistance to internal customers including sales, service, order entry, and parts staff.
  • Maintain positive relationships with principals and establish effective marketing practices for their products.
  • Keep an organized & resourceful work environment.
  • Occasional travel for training or other business purposes.
