Position: Inside Sales Specialist
This role is primarily responsible for handling customer inquiries, assessing which parts are required, ordering parts, and helping customers. This role is part of an Inside Sales team, working with other Inside Sales representatives, parts specialists and sometimes is called upon to help the outside sales team.
Key Job Elements:
- Respond to incoming customer calls, faxes, and emails that request product information.
- Assist customers with product requests, working with the Inside Sales/Applications group ensuring the appropriate product selection and specifications based on the intended application.
- Prepare and deliver to the customer formal price quote documents, with accompanying product information as needed.
- Prepare internal order write-up documentation in response to customer purchase orders.
- Determine product sourcing that will most effectively maximize Applied Controls gross margin while meeting the customers' needs.
- Work with the Sales Administration group to ensure timely order entry and fulfillment of the customer's order by the indicated request date.
- Troubleshoot delivery issues that arise and notify the customer of any change in status of their order.
- Instruct the customer on procedures for returning items when necessary.
- Achieve gross margin and bookings goals and actively support various growth and customer service initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Well-defined customer service skills (positive phone presence, timely responses, follow-through on requests, excellent service, etc.) to represent Applied Control professionally and develop ongoing relationships with new and existing customers.
- Previous sales experience and the ability to accurately identify customer needs and expectations is preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills that reflect a professional, business approach.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Proven analytical and problem-solve skills, and the ability to deal with detail-oriented work accurately.
- Good organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to be self-directed and work with limited supervision.
- PC proficient and familiarity with MS Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and the Internet applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit at a desk and work with a PC and telephone. Must be able to access a variety of reference books of varying weights and at varying levels on bookshelves located primarily within the workstation. Must be able to access files both within the workstation and in other areas of the building.
- Periodic use of office machines such as a copier/scanner.
- Face-to-face interaction with Inside Sales, Order Entry, & Warehouse employees to facilitate orders and/or resolve problems.
- This role participates in the 9/80 schedule which means the individual works 9-hour days and takes a Friday off every other week. This position has the potential for one remote workday per week after training is completed but is primarily an on-site office position.
- The individual must be able to commute regularly to the Englewood, CO or the Bothell, WA office.
Compensation:
Base range: $25 - $35 per hour, dependent upon sales and industry experience.
Other compensation: Eligible to participate in the annual profit-sharing program
