Summary
The Supplier Approval Program Ingredient Risk Assessor is responsible for identifying potential hazards that could cause illness or injury to the consumer, from contract services, new equipment, ingredients, and packaging materials introduced in Lakeview Farms (LVF) through a that science-based risk analysis assessment. Evaluate if identified hazards are reasonably foreseeable and that they are adequately controlled by the supplier to prevent them from being introduced to LVF’s processes. Determine if controls at supplier level are effective or provide alternative solutions to establish adequate controls during the manufacturing of our finished products. Systematically collect and maintain supplier’s documentation related to Food Safety and Quality to perform these tasks and ensure compliance with the company’s Supplier Approval Program, and other relevant requirements from regulatory agencies and our SQF certification body. Assist in conducting supplier audits to evaluate the effectiveness of supply chain controls.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Assists in communicating LVF Supplier Approval Program(SAP) requirements and expectations established in LVF Supplier Expectation Manual to potential suppliers of services, equipment, food ingredients, chemicals, and packaging materials (collectively referred as suppliers and materials) impacting Food safety and Quality.
· Assists in the collection and review of documentation related to Food safety and Quality required by the Supplier Approval Program (SAP) and maintains and updates the electronic repository for this documentation.
· Maintains a tracker of progress related to the Ingredient Risk assessment of all materials, including those that fall under LVF Foreign Supplier Verification Program managed by Azzule Core Team.
· Conducts the Ingredient Risk Assessments for materials impacting Food safety and Quality.
· Assists Quality Assurance Managers during the final review of supplier’s documentation and other requirements during the approval process of the SAP.
· Assists in conducting supplier audits to evaluate the effectiveness of supply chain controls for services, equipment, ingredients, and packaging materials impacting Food safety and Quality.
· Accepts additional responsibilities as needed in the support of company goals.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology or similar degree.
· HACCP, PCQI, SQF certifications preferred.
· Equivalent combinations of experience and training that provide the required technical knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform science-based risk analysis for potential hazards in food.
· Good written and oral communications skills. Proficient in computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe, etc.)
· Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
· Ability to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
