The responsibility of the Infection Preventionist is to implement the Infection Control Program and activities in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs. Oversees and conducts wound care assessment in collaboration with wound care consultant and completes documentation as applicable in the absence of the Wound Care Manager. Manages and supervises the staff activities and ensures staff competencies in the delivery of care.

To perform this job successfully Associate’s Degree in Nursing Required. Bachelor’s Degree or MSN from an accredited university preferred.

A minimum of 2 years experience as a staff nurse, a minimum of 1 year experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long term care facility or other related medical facility and a minimum of 1 year experience supervising and implementing infection control programs. Must possess a current NYS RN license and certification in infection control. Knowledge of federal and state regulations. Must be able to speak, write and read English. Strong clinical competencies, communications and writing skills and the ability to manage staff and resources required.

Must possess a current NYS RN license and certification in infection control.
