Service Technician career opportunity with on the job training in our assembly department. Qualified candidates will have an understanding of mechanical principles and processes, knowledge and experience in the use of hand and power tools, and knowledge of meters and measuring devices. The ability to read schematics, pneumatics, wiring diagrams and blue prints is helpful. Electrical experience is ideal. Train in our assembly department learning to build machinery with the goal of traveling as a service technician once fully trained. Starting salary in training is $18 to $20 per hour.
A service technician is responsible for repairs, start-ups of new equipment, upgrades and maintenance of Norfield equipment located at various customer sites throughout the U.S and Canada. Once trained you will be expected to be able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Understanding of electro-mechanical components, functionality and application.
- Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics, mechanical and assembly drawings.
- Excellent people skills and represent the Company in a positive manner at all times.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and safety.
- Must be punctual, organized and able to work independently under pressure.
This position requires extended overnight travel with stays away from home. A typical week is traveling on a Monday and returning home on a Friday. Must be able to lift a tool box weighing up to 50 lbs. While in the field, the job requires frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending and lifting. Once trained and working as a service technician in the field the salary will be $25 to $30 per hour.
