As an Industrial Designer, you will assist with design activities from concept development to product realization and collaborate with designers, engineers, and marketers to create and deliver well-designed and aesthetically-pleasing products.
Candidates should possess exceptional design skills, systematic thinking, a strong aesthetic, sense as well as embody user-centered design principles.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- A human-centered design approach to translate consumer insights into meaningful product solutions that will delight consumers both on an emotional/experiential and functional level
- Determine aesthetic direction, materials, mechanisms, shape, finishes, and manufacturing processes of final products
- Build design systems and design languages for different product lines
- Create visual and functional prototypes for research and internal review
- Develop 3D models to communicate full aesthetic and feature intent to the Engineering team. Provide further support by modifying engineering files to ensure all 3D features meet design standards before approving for the Mold-Tooling process
- Communicate design intent to overseas factories by creating Technical ID Specifications detailing fit, finishes, color, graphics, etc.
- Have knowledge of current trends, materials and innovations/explore new market opportunities
- Able to manage multiple projects, anticipate demands, communicate status appropriately, and maintain a high level of operational transparency and accountability
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related field
- 3+ years experience in an agency or in-house design department
- Strong 2D skills like hand sketching, Illustrator, and Photoshop rendering
- Expert use of Adobe Creative Suite
- Expert use on any of the most common 3D software (Solidworks, Fusion360, Blender, etc.) and Keyshot
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Hands-on experience with 3D printers to aid in the product development process is a plus
