Fashion Eyewear Industrial Design Intern

The Industrial Designer Intern opportunity calls for an individual who can support the design and development of new products that are on trend in the eyewear market and meet our business needs. The design intern has responsibility for creating samples that accelerate the design process. The intern will determine through research color trends to apply to eyewear in a 3D digital environment for 3D Printing. The intern will also have the opportunity to assist in facilitating the assembly process by working with the distribution center to order materials and 3D print frames. With design input on shade, texture, pattern, color development and placement of these design elements on the eyewear, this is a great opportunity to create fun, fashion forward and wearable styles. Ideal candidates will be dynamic and creative who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

A creative student who has an interest in making their love for design and engineering come to life in a marketable manner will be a great fit for this unique, hands-on role. The intern will assist with conceptualizing the prototype of fashionable eyeglass and sunglass frames, including color, pattern and material selection for each design. This internship is seeking a student who would be energized by seeing their artistry come to life as a consumer good and is passionate about fashion and emerging technology trends. 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Strong computer skills with knowledge of Adobe Substance 3D, Solidworks and 3ds Max. Blender is a plus!
• Must be proficient in Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
• High level of creativity and fashion trend interest.
• Strong creative design eye with keen attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to research and predict fashion trends.

INTERN PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:       

• Applicants must be enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate program and have a minimum GPA of 3.3
• Positions will require a commitment of:
  • 20+ hours per week during the school semester
  • 30+ hours per week during the summer session
• Must be responsible, organized, and goal-oriented
• A proven ability to initiate and maintain strong personal relationships
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
