Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Industrial Design I who is eager to learn from and support the senior Industrial Design team. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver with a well-rounded set of design skills, a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, and an outstanding work ethic.
Responsibilities
The work
- Develop 3D models of parts and assemblies, both in physical and in virtual form
- Create presentation renderings from digital models.
- Engage in brainstorming sessions and produce meaningful ideas and concepts.
- Conduct competitive market, technological and user research and provide summary reports.
- Manage the construction of rapid prototypes.
Within HSDS
- Receive direction from senior design team members and execute accordingly.
- Perpetually seek out opportunities for improvement in internal procedures
- Participate in an overall positive and professional group dynamic.
Within HS
- Maintain a courteous, professional, and positive interaction with all other HS departments.
- Limited interaction with our design and development counterparts at various HS vendors
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in industrial design from an accredited institution
- 0-3 Years of experience in Product Development
- Excellent understanding of complex 3-Dimensional Form
- Good understanding of mechanisms
- Good understanding of graphic design, and ability to create simple layouts that complement Humanscale's aesthetic.
- Comfortable building mock-ups/prototypes and reiterating as necessary.
- Comfortable with basic power tools
- Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences through various media, including:
- Clear and concise language
- Well-developed drawing skills
- Digital image manipulation
- Short, clear and professional email
- An innate desire to master new problems thoroughly and quickly.
- Well-developed research capabilities to perform in-depth qualitative research. Including:
- reviewing existing research
- planning research goals
- performing qualitative interviews and co-creative design research
- analyzing research observations
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information, distill it down to key findings.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks is necessary
- Proficiency in Keyshot or equivalent 3D rendering software
- Experience with Alias or equivalent surfacing tool is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop

Salary Range: $57,894 - $84,445
