Job Description
The Integration Designer plays a crucial role in the creation of our animatronic figures by creating complex surface and solid models that solve unique design and integration challenges. They work across departments to balance creative and mechanical design needs to produce a successful final product.
The ideal candidate is someone who has experienced in surface/solid modeling, proficient in Solidworks, and excels at problem solving.
This is not a traditional Industrial Design role; instead, its a unique and rare opportunity to apply Industrial Design experience towards creating functional solutions that create extraordinary 3D characters for the themed entertainment industry.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Bridge the gap between the creative and mechanical design teams by creating advanced surface and solid models for CNC machining or 3D printing.
- Discover workarounds and unique methodologies necessary to make highly organic shapes fit correctly on complex mechanisms.
- Draft accurate drawings for part creation.
- Ability to create clean, organized, and editable history trees and assemblies.

- 2+ years of relevant experience as a surface/solid modeler
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Solidworks) required
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
- Flexible and adaptive to multiple modeling practices
- Ability to quickly learn new software and develop tools to enhance workflow
- Motivated, team player that can work quickly and adjust on the fly
- Organized team player with good communication and time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites
- BS in related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2-4 years of experience in a related field
- Technical Proficiency with polygonal 3D modeling software (Maya, ZBrush) and the Adobe Creative Suite Experience with Power Surfacing (Solidworks Plug-in)
- Strong cause-effect analytical abilities to solve problems
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working in theme park or entertainment industry, or similar.
- Experience as an Industrial Designer or related profession
- Experience with toy design or animatronics Experience in manufacturing, molding, tooling, and/or injection molding
- Understanding of how to marry organic, class A surfaces to mechanical understructures
- Understanding of machinability requirements, 3D printing, and mechanical design methodology
- Work environment is a warehouse/shop and involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions.
- Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as fumes, odors, and/or loud noises.
