Job description

Step into a pivotal leadership role with the GESS team within the WW Amazon Stores as the Senior Manager of Warehouse Design Engineering. Your role will be instrumental in driving the strategic design direction and optimizing the layouts, systems, and operations across our expansive global fulfillment and logistics networks. By spearheading these efforts, you'll lay the groundwork for enhanced operational excellence, ensuring that Amazon remains best-in-class in customer promise.
In this role, you'll own the development of visionary strategies for Amazon's fulfillment and logistic center designs. From concept to its real-world execution, you'll oversee a team ensuring our facilities are designed to meet both present demands and future evolutions of Amazon's supply-chain network. Through your in-depth expertise in fulfillment and logistics, you'll inspire and guide your team to deliver solutions that focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key job responsibilities
Lead the design and optimization of warehouse layouts, considering advanced racking systems, material handling systems, and automation integration.
Oversee the application of state-of-the-art warehousing technologies such as AS/RS, conveyor systems, and robotics within the design framework.
Collaborate with external vendors, technical teams, and operations teams to ensure smooth integration of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other related technologies.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends in warehousing design and technology, ensuring our strategies remain cutting-edge.
Manage a team of technical engineers; guide them in rigorous simulation modeling, CAD designs, and technical solution evaluations.
Monitor and incorporate sustainable and energy-efficient design practices into our warehousing solutions.
Oversee Requests for Proposals (RFPs), proposal reviews, and vendor selection for warehouse design projects, ensuring alignments with our technical and operational standards.
Understand the financial implications of design choices, ensure cost-effectiveness, and drive ROI-based decisions in all phases of warehouse design, from planning to implementation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Industrial/Process Engineering or related STEM field; or 2+ years related Amazon experience
7+ years of experience in a similar field or related occupation of Design/Innovation, Research & Development, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering
3+ years of experience managing and leading a team of 10+ engineers
Strong understanding of warehousing systems, automation technologies, and their integration points.
Proven ability to develop and implement technical warehousing solutions in large-scale, complex environments.
Robust technical communication and team leadership skills.
Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree (e.g., Master's or Ph.D.) in a technical field such as Mechanical/Industrial/Process Engineering, Operations, Business Administration and at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in warehousing or logistics.
Expertise in emerging warehousing technologies, such as IoT integrations, AI-driven optimizations, and energy-efficient systems.
Experience in mentoring and developing a team of design engineers across multiple locations.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $269,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
