The IHSS Attendant provides services to patients in their places of residence and/or community that includes health maintenance activities, support for activities of daily living, personal care services and homemaker services. These services are provided according to the patient's care plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides personal care services which may include assistance with: bathing, oral hygiene, using the restroom, meal preparation, medication reminders, ambulation
- Provides homemaker services which may include household chores, light housework, laundry, grocery shopping
- Provides health maintenance, medically skilled services. These may include IVs, feeding tubes, catheter irrigation, enemas, wound care
- Arrives at the client's home on time and leaves when shift schedule is complete
- Performs all duties in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient information, in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Safeguards the patient from infection by practicing appropriate infection control procedures including but not limited to universal precautions
- Notifies the office of any abnormal findings or changes in the client's condition.
- Effectively communicates with the office staff
- Provides requirements-related information in a timely fashion (examples; annual in-service requirements, Proof of CPR certification etc)
