In this role, the candidate will design, develop, and implement policies and procedures for the Quality Department and its associates to ensure that all product is manufactured to meet the customer’s requirements while staying compliant with the company’s certifications and the company’s respective fire listings. The candidate will serve as the leader of the Quality Department, driving effective internal controls and processes aimed to reduce or eliminate internal/external quality problems using CAPA activities as well as Continuous Improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, develop, and implement a Quality Management system to ensure the company and customer requirements are met.
• Maintain oversight of corporate quality complaints/findings (internal & external), direct Quality staff in the investigation and resolution of non-conformances, ensure proper visibility and reporting of issues, and participate in CAPA activities to address product issues
• Establish and maintain a process and quality assurance audit function to ensure compliance to standards and specifications. Develop corrective action plans and systems to address gaps.
• Effectively drive company’s quality culture, communicate goals and performance, monitor current state relative to target, and act in a timely manner to address gaps.
• Lead company’s strategies in Continuous Improvement and problem solving methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma toolbox, lean practices, DOE, SPC, etc.) while engaging all site personnel with focus on shop floor participation.
• Provide direction to quality department staff as well as other departments to ensure that workmanship standards, acceptance criteria, and general quality policies are met.
• Ensure proper direction, coaching, and training for all department team members to ensure they work safely, productively, and to their optimal ability.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Business Administration or related field of study. MBA is a plus.
• 10+ years’ experience as a Quality Engineer or Quality Manager in a Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing environment.
• Experience in leading the following: CAPA activities, Quality Management System including internal auditing, Experience in Implementation of QMS a plus
• Professional certifications desired (CQE, CQM, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, etc.)
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Experience with sheet metal manufacturing and fabrication preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Must be able to communicate effectively across the entire company hierarchy, verbally, and in writing.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Leadership abilities to engage others, optimize team performance, and drive improvement.
• Experience utilizing software Microsoft Visio, Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong time management skills.
• Working knowledge of Statistical Principals and SPC factory applications.
