Long Island City, Queens based law firm is looking for paralegal/law-clerk with a minimum 2-year experience in Immigration Law. The ideal candidate must be able to handle multiple matters simultaneously and work on all areas within the immigration field including Adjustment of Status, Consular Processing, Perm, Labor Certification, L-1, H1-B, Removal Defense, Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, U-visa, VAWA and Waivers.
Responsibilities of the candidate shall include:
- Prepare court pleadings, immigrant, and nonimmigrant visa petitions
- File documents with the Immigration Court, Family Court, and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
- Communicate with clients to ensure timely and effective information sharing regarding upcoming appointments, deadlines, and other individual aspects of case
- Assist clients and attorney with collection of key evidentiary documents in support of case
- Coordinate client meetings to draft statements/affidavits, complete applications and review packets as needed
- Maintain case files and data entry in office case management database
- Assisting attorney with file organization and work collaboratively with other paralegals also assigned to legal caseload
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and require minimum supervision
You must be competent and proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), E-Mails and Legal Practice Management software such as MyCase.
You must be detail-oriented. Prior experience in handling matters in Family Law is preferred. Bi-lingual candidates with fluency in verbal Spanish, Hindi and Punjabi are highly preferred.
This is a part-time position.
