Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Immigration Paralegal to join our growing team. This individual will specialize in asylum and family-based petitions, playing a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and clients through the legal process. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of immigration law, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for helping others.
Duties:
- Prepare and file a wide range of immigration documents, including but not limited to, asylum applications, family-based petitions, adjustment of status applications, and consular processing.
- Conduct detailed research and draft legal documents under the supervision of attorneys.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and documentation, keeping them informed of the progress of their cases.
- Manage case files, track deadlines, and ensure timely filings with government agencies.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in immigration law and policy, attending webinars and training sessions as necessary.
- Assist with case strategy planning and attend client meetings as required.
- Collaborate with team members to improve office procedures and contribute to a supportive working environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred
- Previous experience working as an Immigration Paralegal or similar role
- Strong knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and procedures
- Proficient in legal drafting and document preparation
- Excellent research skills using resources such as Lexis-Nexis
- Ability to interview clients effectively and gather relevant information
- Familiarity with case management software such as Docketwise and Clio is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluency in Haitian-Creole and/or Spanish
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, database and web content management systems, and collaborative project tools
