Independent Emergency Services (IES) Technicians install, maintain, and troubleshoot Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911) Emergency Call Handling (ECH) Systems; we interact with local telephone companies, local law enforcement, and dispatch center staff. IES Network personnel assist in circuit and trunk design, implementation, and troubleshooting. IES Database personnel work with dispatch centers, Telcos, and counties to ensure accurate 9-1-1 location and number information. As a whole these three pieces make IES a premier service provider in MN, we support the large majority of Minnesota (Public Safety Answering Point) PSAPs.
Nuvera is looking for applicants for an IES 9-1-1 Technician. This position has the ability to work from home and travel to provide installation and support of 9-1-1 ECH Systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, installing, supporting, and troubleshooting (remote and onsite as needed) 9-1-1 ECH Systems, equipment, computers, servers, etc.
- Ability to travel to other locations in MN and western WI and occasionally work overnight for extended periods (2-3 days) for new installations
- PBX and VoIP phone support
- On-Call Duties
The following skills and experience are preferred:
- 2-year computer/networking or telecommunications-related degree
- 2-years of related experience in telephony, switching, routing, and IP-based technology with an understanding of servers, computers, and basic networking (GIS experience and/or proficiency desirable)
- Valid Driver’s License
