(Position is temporary, Possible Permanent)
The IDD LVN I provides nursing services to people with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities who are enrolled in MHMRCV’s HCS, TxHmL and GR services. The LVN I is responsible for the performance of health care procedures and monitoring consumer's health conditions. Duties include, but are not limited to: completing nursing evaluations, completing assessments and medical staffing reports, administering and monitoring medications, instructing consumers, staff and others in proper medical techniques, making referrals for appropriate medical services and monitoring and disseminating results of medical services provided by other professionals, performing TB tests, attending medical appointments as needed, attending meetings and being on-call. Occasional duties will include "non-medical tasks.” Additional tasks may be asked of the IDD LVN I by the IDD Community Services Program Manager and/or the IDD Director. The IDD LVN I provides all services in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code for HCS, TxHmL and General Revenue Services.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE
- Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse program accredited by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- High school diploma or a certificate recognized by a state as the equivalent of a high school diploma.
- Two (2) years work experience preferred in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Must be computer and office equipment literate.
- Efficiency in utilizing Microsoft software and computerized Electronic Health Record software.
ESSENTIAL TASKS
- Ability to work independently and to organize work efficiently with time management.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with clients, family members, medical staff and other people involved in the client’s care team.
- Knowledge of computer operation, computer applications and willingness to learn new applications.
REQUIREMENTS
- Licensed to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required and reliable transportation.
- Must not have more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.
- Must be insurable and remain insurable on Center’s insurance.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
SHIFT
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.– 5 p.m. and on-call.
