Job Description
AlphaHire is excited to announce the addition of a Hybridization Mechanical Engineer to our Focal Plane Array (FPA) production team. This hands-on role is crucial for executing and supporting the manufacturing of infrared and visible FPA assemblies. The Hybridization Mechanical Engineer will provide both production and development leadership in the FPA fabrication process and work closely with the production team in the cleanroom environment. A key responsibility includes overseeing the execution of flip-chip bonding across all programs at Teledyne.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine optimal conditions for various processes such as etching, flip-chip bonding, polishing, and Anti-Reflection (AR) coating.
- Review component and assembly designs to enhance producibility.
- Identify and arrange the necessary tooling for production.
- Track key process controls and measurements to ensure successful outcomes and adherence to assembly specifications.
- Develop and present workflows, work instructions, and Manufacturing Readiness review charts.
- Collaborate with cleanroom staff to fabricate prototype parts.
- Train operators in the use of documentation and tooling.
- Lead problem-solving teams to address issues as they arise.
- Oversee inspections, data analysis, and documentation.
- Regularly interact with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for data tracking and reporting.
- Contribute to manufacturing troubleshooting, conduct failure analysis, and identify root causes.
- Manage the development and execution of a risk management plan during the design and fabrication of focal plane arrays.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of flip-chip bonding and assembly processes, including epoxy bonding, polishing, substrate removal, and Anti-Reflection Coating.
- Strong background in opto-electronic semiconductor devices or a similar field.
- Experience in Design of Experiments (DOE), product, and technology development.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas to various audience levels.
- Proficient in technical writing for whitepapers, proposals, technical reports, and customer reviews.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).
- Experience in project management, risk assessment/management, cost account management, cost estimation, and engineering planning is highly desired.
- Exemplary ethics and business conduct, with a focus on safe work practices.
Educational Requirements:
- A Masters Degree with five (5) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Requirements:
- Due to specific work requirements and access restrictions at our facility, this position is open only to U.S. Citizens with the ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.
