West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Hybrid Training and Development Specialist

About the Opportunity

The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for creating and conducting training programs for the University system. The Training and Development Specialist partners with the Purpose Center to deliver CliftonStrengths to our staff across campus. They will also have responsibility for creating team building sessions and assisting our leaders through engagement and culture building.

This position is hybrid, with the expectation of a schedule that includes onsite and work from home opportunity. This position is expected to work the hours needed to meet professional responsibilities.


What you'll do:

Works in collaboration with the Manager, Training and Development to create engagement and team building tools for leaders as well as training on how to build a cohesive team and foster a positive culture.

Collaborates with the Purpose Center to facilitate CliftonStrengths sessions with staff across campus, including the regional campuses. Obtains Gallup certification and is a subject matter expert in strengths. Able to coach an individual on their specific strengths and how to navigate in their specific role.

Assists in the development of leadership essentials and tools to continue a culture of accountability. Collaborates with the Manager and Senior Training and Development Specialist on surveys and needs of the institution to develop and plan.

Works in partnership with the Senior Training and Development Specialist to launch the Culture Survey as well as the tools and communications around the survey.

Lead the 360 leadership review process and how and when the program is utilized for a leader

Develops training session for individual contributors to be delivered in a variety of formats.

Other duties as assigned by Director, Employee Relations.


Qualifications


Education:

Bachelor’s degree required in organizational development/leadership, human resources, or related field.

Experience:

2 years of experience in training


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of curriculum and instructional design and application for effective adult learning.

Knowledge of developing training sessions for employees.

Organizational and intrapersonal skills with acute attention to detail.

Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate cross functionally.

Ability to learn the University’s organizational structure, strategic plan, priorities, mission, and vision.

Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.

Ability to effectively plan, organize, develop, and implement comprehensive employee development programs.
