JOB TITLE: Hybrid Athletic Trainer

EMPLOYER: Source Fitness Management, L.L.C.

DEPARTMENT: Sports Medicine- Secondary School

REPORTS TO: Manager – Sports Medicine

EFFECTIVE DATE: 1/17/2024


SUMMARY: This position is for a certified Athletic Trainer who will be responsible for providing high-quality sports medicine services; functioning effectively as a member of the sports medicine team; supporting Source's mission and vision; proactively leading and supporting local efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services, and promoting a safe environment; supporting Source’s mission in filling roles within the organization as appropriate at the designation of Source Management.

WORKSITE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Documentation:

  • Maintains high-quality and thorough documentation to protect your patients' safety.
  • Ensures care quality.
  • Performs complete and accurate medical recordkeeping.
  • Ensures the patients get the proper care at the right time.

Clinical Competence:

  • Understands medical diagnosis and treatment interventions.
  • Follows established rehabilitation protocols based on a diagnosis.
  • Provides education to parents and patients in an ongoing fashion.
  • Operates within Source Written Protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Delivers competent age-appropriate patient care, integrating infection control and body substance precautions, patient safety, body mechanics, and knowledge of growth and development.
  • Evaluates all athletes, coaches, school staff, or teachers requesting to see the Athletic Trainer or physician.

Communication:

  • Effectively communicates healthcare structure across stakeholders at the worksite, including Athletic Directors, Coaches, Parents, Student-Athletes, and Healthcare Providers.
  • Follows the direction of the Athletic Trainer of the school when coverage needs are approved through Source Fitness Management Administration.
  • Communicates with Source administration regularly regarding operations at the worksite.

Structured Healthcare:

  • Follows work assignments given by manager/supervisor.
  • Remains familiar with Emergency Action Plans at the venue/school being covered.
  • Maintains Awareness of stakeholders to communicate with and aware of roles and responsibilities associated with coverage needs.
  • Works contracted time allotments.
  • Maintains attendance at all scheduled coverage events
  • Checks-in with School/Site to assess needs of teams.
  • Identifies yourself as a certified AT with visiting teams.
  • Provides support based on needs.

Additional Duties:

  • Assists in and follows the directives of the concussion management program as medical personnel dictates and outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Provides functional body and movement screenings.
  • Follows guidelines laid out within the Policy and Procedure Manual.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains Membership in a Source Company Committee or Initiative as designated by the Director of Athletic Training (15% of job responsibilities).
  • Practices proper safety techniques by Source and school/county policies and procedures.
  • Cover a minimum of 16 total hours per contract year outside of the primary worksite in outreach services.
  • Travels for coverage needs and transportation of supplies, marketing materials, and other essential items are deemed by the Source Fitness Management Administration.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings, system-wide training, parent and booster club meetings, and other necessary events or functions by Source Fitness Management Administration.
  • Advocates for departmental team needs with management.
  • Participates on a committee or focus group as required by the department.
  • Ensures to become a CPR Instructor if not currently one.
  • Assists with yearly CPR events and certifications.
  • Investigates educational opportunities that contribute to teams' and staff's well-being.
  • Participates and assists in planning educational experiences and professional development activities as needed:
  • Coaches Clinics
  • Staff Meetings
  • Student Workshops
  • Educational Seminars.
  • Participates in the onboarding of new employees.
  • Participates in hiring panels as assigned by management.
  • Attends in-services and continuing education programs and presents current trends in the area of practice to progress the skills of our staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management, including but not limited to supporting customers' needs outside of the secondary school setting.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No supervisory responsibilities are assigned to this position.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree (MA/MS) or equivalent, or four to ten years of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, Licenses, and registrations required:
  • Maintains current licensure by the state of Georgia and be certified by the Board of Certification.
  • Preferred member of National Athletic Trainer's Association, Southeast Athletic Trainer's Association, Georgia Athletic Trainer's Association.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • A valid state driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Computer skills required: Electronic Medical Record Software; Concussion Management Systems; Human Resource Systems; Inventory Software; and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Other skills required:
  • Maintain independent liability insurance in addition to liability insurance provided by the employer.
  • Maintain a valid state driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Good mental and physical health.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in the provision of effective service delivery appropriate to the patient's specific needs and diagnosis.
