Performs the skilled journey-level work required to install, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration equipment (HVACR), and direct digital controls (DDC) systems.
Qualifications
Required
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
- Four (4) years of progressive experience in air-conditioning or HVACR, two (2) years of which shall have been at the apprentice II or equivalent level.
- Possession of a valid EPA-approved universal refrigerant recovery certification to include types I, II, and III.
- Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record.
- May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status.
- Knowledge of the methods and skills used in the repair and preventive maintenance of HVACR or trade-related components, systems, and equipment, to include application-specific and basic computer programs.
- Knowledge of local, state, and national codes and of common hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals.
- Capability to estimate time and material needs, determine when the repair is not economically practical, and perform routine tasks and arithmetic computations.
- Completion of an acceptable apprentice-level HVACR training program.
