Charles & Alice is a leading international processor and co-packer of applesauce and other natural fruit-based products. Besides our Charles & Alice brand of chilled and ambient packaged fruits, we also produce a host of national retailer brands. We are experiencing consistent sales growth and expansion of our production operations. We are seeking to hire a Human Resources/Payroll Assistantat our US headquarters and food manufacturing plant of approximately 70 employees in Lancaster, PA.
The Human Resource/Payroll Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services and process weekly/semi-monthly payroll to support effective and efficient operations for the Charles & Alice North American Operations. This position will also serve as the company receptionist and will answer the phones and greet visitors.
Job Duties
· Be the “ambassador of first impressions” for the Company by greeting and addressing the needs of outside customers/applicants by phone and in person at the main entrance.
· Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholdings, address changes, and other information.
· Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
· Issues, or reissues, direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
· Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
· Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to the HR Manager.
· Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource/payroll files and records.
· Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
· Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
· Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
· Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn ADP payroll software.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Education
· High school diploma or equivalent required/Associate’s Degree preferred
Experience
· Two years of experience in payroll required.
· One to three years of experience in Human Resources preferred.
