The 1st Shift Warehouse/Freezer Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment in our frozen distribution center. The porter will also assist in managing broken cases and damaged product. This position operates a variety of warehouse equipment including pallet jacks and hand trucks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clear freezer aisles of stretch wrap, cardboard, pallet debris, etc.
- Repack broken cartons.
- Restock returned product.
- Conducts inventory of and manages breakage.
- May assist with picking customer orders.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Relevant warehouse and receiving experience a plus
- Experience operating pallet jacks, hand-trucks a plus
- Experience operating balers and compactors a plus
Skills/Qualifications
- Ability to operate warehouse and material handling equipment, including, but not limited to, pallet jacks and hand trucks.
- Must be able to read English.
- Must be organized and accurate.
- Must have strong multi-tasking and follow-through skills. Must be able to follow multiple directions.
- Must be a team player.
- Must work well unsupervised and be self-motivated.
Physical Demands
- Ability to constantly lift up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Work near moving mechanical parts in a warehouse environment.
- Exposure to extreme cold (negative 20°) in a freezer environment.
- Exposure to icy floor conditions.
- Exposure to loud noises.
