This position is located in the Bureau of Laboratories, Division of Laboratory Improvement It supports the organization's mission of licensing and regulating clinical laboratories within the Commonwealth by supervising staff performing on-site evaluations of all areas of the clinical laboratory to review records of the complexity of testing, laboratory personnel qualifications, instrumentation, quality assurance, laboratory management practices and other factors to ensure compliance with the State's Clinical Laboratory Act and the Federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA '88) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Blood Bank Regulations.
Duties include providing administrative and professional supervision over a technical staff responsible for the enforcement of state-wide clinical laboratory licensure and certification regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. You also assist in the selection of technical staff when vacancies occur to ensure that the section hires appropriately qualified personnel. In addition, you develop, implement, and monitor an on-going training program for technical staff to increase their proficiency and knowledge of all areas of the laboratory and applicable state regulations and federal CLIA'88 requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time, based on operational needs. Your supervisor will work with your schedule following successful completion of a one-year training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Exton.
  • Frequent travel throughout the Commonwealth as required to conduct on-site inspections of clinical laboratories.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Laboratory Examiner; or
  • Three years of professional laboratory work experience in a clinical laboratory, and bachelor's degree in a chemical science, biological science, or medical technology; or
  • Two years of professional laboratory work experience in a clinical laboratory, and a master's degree in a chemical science, biological science, or medical technology.

  • This particular position also requires possession of a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
