Description
Performs intermediate technical work assisting with various Human Resources programs, maintaining personnel files and applications, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of a Senior Human Resources Analyst.
Examples of Duties
- Serves as a service contact for employment information; maintains direct contact with employees, city departments and the general public both over the phone and in person.
- Administers NEOGOV web-based online application program; refers all qualified applications to the correct department.
- Enters new job positions to be posted on the NEOGOV web-based system for all departments; communicates with vendors to advertise positions.
- Processes verifications of employment information request.
- Schedules pre-employment and promotional testing appointments and process background authorizations.
- Assists with entering and maintaining all employee data in the HRIS and maintaining all employee records regarding internal movements, salary changes, promotions, transfers, demotions, etc. while ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with payroll deadlines.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience: High School Diploma and considerable experience working in Human Resources or other professional administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of general office procedures and technology; proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet software; strong analytical skills and the ability to learn and readily utilize HRIS software; ability to monitor his/her work; ability to interpret and apply policies, regulations, and procedures; excellent communication skills both oral and written; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, co-workers, and other city employees. Ability to work M-F, 8a to 5p and sit for extended periods of time. Ability to work autonomously. General knowledge of employment practices and benefits administration is helpful.
Physical Requirements: This work is sedentary and requires little to no exertion of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires standing; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
