Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Employee Relations, the HR Project/Communications Specialist primarily supports the oversight of the delivery of strong and engaged employee relations services to Boston University's schools, colleges, and departments in support of the University's strategic priorities. The HR Project/Communications Specialist is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides project leadership and support to the University HR team.
The role is critical in executing our project initiatives, providing internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. The Specialist will be responsible for assembling project teams, project definition, project plan development, assigning and tracking individual responsibilities and project resources, risk identification, project schedule, setting deadlines, ensuring coordination and timely completion of assigned projects, and all other aspects of project management. The Specialist will, in consultation and collaboration with HR's Organizational Development and Learning (ODL), consult on the project, lead, and facilitate configuration, process re-engineering, define business processes, and lead implementation and training of clients on the various aspects of the ER project or HR technologies. The Specialist will assist Employee and Labor Relations with the implementation and administration of university policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements and business processes. The Specialist will champion the HR communications activities for Employee Relations. Serving as the point person for internal and external Employee Relations communication, working in conjunction with the HR Communications Manager and the Labor Relations Project Manager, the Specialist will coordinate communication activities for the Employee Relations across the HR department and/or University.
The ideal candidate will be required to identify, create, develop, and integrate innovative solutions and programs that lead to flawless execution of all ER HR initiatives, as well as develop and manage web content related to the employee relations services on the relevant University websites.

- Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience required. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment, preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong computing skills, including familiarity with Google apps, Microsoft Office or related software. Strong time and project management skills, ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work closely with peers. Must be able to work independently in a variety of settings. Must be able to take initiative and demonstrate ability to follow through and close the loop with all constituents. Must have ability to handle confidential materials with discretion. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in communication, conflict resolution, and creative problem solving. Sound business judgment, tact, and diplomacy. Demonstrated data management skills with experience in analysis and reporting. Demonstrated experience interacting with multiple internal/external stakeholder groups. Demonstrated diplomacy skills and collaborative management style that fosters teamwork. Demonstrated experience and success working in a diverse environment with a clear understanding of the issues of diversity in both student and workplace settings.
