EMS Communications Specialist

SCHEDULE:
• 36 hours, 12 hour shift
• Nights, 7p-7:30a
Rotating weekends and holidays

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The EMS Communication Specialist provides skills and abilities to enhance patient care and clinical quality in a busy, dynamic emergency department and trauma center. In addition to having excellent communication skills and the ability to organize and prioritize, the EMS Communication Specialist will: possess a MA EMT-paramedic license, have experience in pre-hospital care, be expert in judging the clinical acuity of patients arriving by EMS based on a radio notification, know pre-hospital point-of-entry criteria, including trauma, STEMI and stroke activation criteria, know a wide range of emergency department operational processes, work with nursing to achieve optimal placement of patients arriving by ambulance, acquire information and maintain records, monitor communications for quality improvement, communicate with outside facilities and agencies, protect confidentiality and use a variety of communication technology and computer software applications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Work Experience:
1 year of pre-hospital care at the paramedic level
Preferred Work Experience:
5 years of pre-hospital care at the paramedic level
Paramedic License required
CPR required

Associate of Arts, GED or HiSET (Required)
Certifications:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Paramedic - Other, NIMS ICS 700 Certified - FEMA Federal Emergency Management Institute
