Come join our team as aMarketing Communications Specialistwhere underthe general direction of the Marketing Officer, you will be responsible forconveying the Credit Union's internal and external messages to promote, position, and further Credit Union objectives through various written and verbal mediums while leveraging marketing, social media, and press opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, plans, and maintains content for marketing and social media campaigns, including monthly content and social media calendars.
- Drafts releases, pitches stories, and communicates with press contacts, community outlets, and industry journals to acquire press for the Credit Union.
- Monitors online reputation and curates online engagement by responding to reviews and comments and engages and monitors social channels by responding to comments, and sharing content from community partners.
- Manages, contributes to, and grows The Money Mill Blog.
- Assists with the development and execution of various marketing promotions, including coordination of third-party vendors in developing concepts, copy, and graphic design. Assists with the management of vendor relationships to keep projects on time and within budget.
- Manages internal and targeted external communications regarding marketing efforts and community events.
- Develops, updates, and reviews the content of JDCU.com, including microsites, landing pages, and rates to ensure content is current and timely.
- Maintains up-to-date information on policies, procedures, and regulations that affect advertising compliance issues. Conducts regularly scheduled audits of such marketing materials on websites and within branch locations for accuracy and compliance.
- Works with various internal and external business partners to develop a communication plan to ensure timely flow of information relative to rates, promotions, and public relations.
- Supports Credit Union outreach efforts through community involvement and non-profit marketing campaigns.
- Organizes, attends, and/or contributes to day, evening, and weekend events where the Credit Union is represented and connects with the public is required.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience:
Two years of related experience is required. Experience within the financial industry or knowledge of banking and/or Credit Union specific products and services is preferred. An advanced understanding of marketing, advertising, and promotions is required.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field required.
Interpersonal Skills:
Position requires a significant amount of personal contact with others inside and outside the Credit Union, thus requiring a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy, and tact in communication. Builds relationships and fosters positive interactions with Credit Union team members, vendors, and members by demonstrating friendly, helpful, and efficient service. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, patience, active listening, and sound judgment are required. Ability to confidently present information to groups of people at all levels and varying backgrounds.
Other Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Writing correspondence and reports with the correct use of grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure is critical. Must have the ability to take ownership, work independently, and as part of a collaborative team. Must be highly motivated, organized, and skillful with time management and multi-tasking. This position requires standing, sitting, walking, reaching, and lifting to 20 lbs. regularly.
