The Human Resources Manager provides a crucial role of maintaining and enhancing the company by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and Human Resources policies, programs, and practices in accordance with A.B. Munroe Dairy's standards. This individual reports to Chief Operating Officer (COO).

ABOUT MUNROE DAIRY

A.B. Munroe Dairy is a local family-owned company that has been delivering Farm Fresh Milk in glass bottles and other local groceries to homes in Southern New England since 1881. Our milk comes fresh from the cow to our customers' door in no more than 48 hours and contains no artificial hormones or antibiotics.

RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES

  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintains organization staff by establishing and administering a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Maintains a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Maintains and administers employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; policy development, conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Completes human resource operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains human resource staff, when applicable, by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Manages and reports changes and claims to insurance broker, workers compensation provider, and EMC property and motor vehicle insurance claims.
  • Maintains human resource staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Monitors and maintains employee training and certifications for all employees, including DOT certifications and driving records for drivers.
  • Coordinates and implements all Employee Engagement functions, such as parties, birthday and anniversary recognitions, awards, and random fun activities at the workplace.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results and responsibilities, as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Human Resources Manager, or equivalent experience
  • Broad generalist background including performance management, employee involvement, and teambuilding
  • Thorough knowledge of HR principles and federal/local regulations
  • Excellent personal and communications skills; experience handling all manners of interactions with employees and vendors.
  • Ability to clearly and enthusiastically communicate company policies and procedures to employees whether it is in person, by phone, or email.
  • Able to work in a fluid, fast-paced environment both independently as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate sound business judgment when working.
  • The Human Resources Manager must be able to work a flexible schedule influenced by employee and company needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays
