A Day in the Life of a Human Resources Generalist
Your day may start at home or in our office. Your focus is on fostering a work environment where employees can ask questions, get help, and feel supported. You will be joining a highly collaborative and supportive team and will have an opportunity to support a wide range of HR efforts. You will support others on the team with hiring best practices, training hiring managers in full cycle recruiting, managing the recruitment process, and helping maintain our Applicant Tracking System (ATS) ensuring candidates receive prompt and courteous updates. After bringing on great candidates, you'll help provide a warm welcome to new staff. You will assist with benefits enrollment and questions, collaborating with our broker and other team members as needed. You'll help develop our team through performance management, engagement activities, and trainings. You will lead or assist with compliance projects including benefits eligibility, employment law posters, and family leave. You will support DEI initiatives, serving as the DEI Coordinator, helping advance efforts and ensure organizational and individual accountability. We are targeting a salary of $71,500 to $80,000 for this position.
Qualifications of a Human Resources Generalist:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Human Resources
  • Experience in full-cycle recruiting
  • Razor-like attention to detail
  • Experience with Employee & Manager coaching and training on topics including career development, training, and performance
  • Service-focused approach to HR
  • Experience and strong competence in maintaining confidential information
  • Experience with Benefits Management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with HRIS or ATS systems; Paylocity and ApplicantPro preferred

It would be a plus if you have:
  • Experience or a working understanding of employment law
  • A passion for ensuring that equitable outcomes is integrated into your work
  • Experience with or a strong interest in conducting or assisting with compensation analyses
  • Strong communication skills, whether written, verbal, or graphical
  • Desire to build relationships, bring enthusiasm to exciting projects, and are detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills

Work Schedule for a Human Resources Generalist:
This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home up to 3 days per week. The Columbus office of Toole Design opened in 2018 and is in downtown Columbus on Broad Street, across from Capitol Square. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.
