Job Description
- Performs Talent Management functions, administers the new hire pre-employment processes, and efficiently manages onboarding in the pursuit of increased retention and productivity.
- Maintains Human Resources Information System (HRIS) records, entering new hire information, changes in employee demographics, and separation information.
- Responsible for coordinating monthly new hire orientation including preparing materials, coordinating schedule with employees, managers, guest speakers and tour guides and setting orientation agenda.
- Ensures compliance with established policies and procedures for the area of responsibility.
- Prepares and maintains special internal and external reports as requested.
- Answers routine requests for information on policy interpretation, benefits, recruitment needs, and compliance. Provides high quality customer service to all employees, vendors, applicants, and the public.
- Assists with benefit enrollments, employee leave requests, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and disability.
- Acts as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to human resource issues relating to area of responsibility.
- Assists with developing, coordinating and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow.
- Assists with planning/scheduling company-wide and department level events and/or meetings.
- Assists in the development and presentation of internal training sessions and orientations.
- Attends meetings, conferences and seminars applicable to job area and as requested.
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
- Provides programmatic support to the Syracuse Emergency Shelter.
- Provides backup support to receptionist as needed.
- Promotes a safety first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following safety policies and procedures.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the job
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associates degree in related field or equivalent experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or equivalent experience preferred
- Previous HR or administrative experience required.
- Valid NYS Driver License in compliance with Rescue Mission safety policy.
- Comfort in presenting to an audience of varying sizes; public speaking ability preferred
- Spanish speaking preferred.
Pay:
$19 - $20 per hour.
