SUMMARY
The HR Generalist coordinates and helps implement employee onboarding, offboarding, employee information and status changes, and provides department administration support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Under the direction of the VP of HR or designee, the HR Generalist administers various Human Resources processes and procedures for personnel under a shared services model that supports ASRC corporate and other business operations.
- Assist Compliance Department with pre-employment screening processes and policy compliance, including, collecting samples for drug tests.
- Responsible for onboarding and offboarding activities, including entering employee data into the HR systems, submitting IT requests, ensuring necessary requests and record updates are submitted timely, and assisting with new hire orientation sessions.
- Receive, track, enter employee information and status change documents.
- Complete employee verifications.
- Maintain employee data and records in electronic and paper form.
- Participate in human resource meetings and other relevant meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers; act as a point-of-contact within the HR Department for company employees.
- Promote HR programs and employment opportunities.
- Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart.
- Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.
- Provide assistance with bi-weekly payroll submission, if needed.
- Research and resolve issues within the scope of the position.
- Assist with special projects and serve as a backup to others on the HR Team.
- Support additional recruiting and employee engagement activities, as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors' Degree or equivalent of three to five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, interpret and explain employment policies and issues, and demonstrated high-performance in employee relations is required.
- A Professional Human Resources Certification preferred.
- A strong working knowledge of Oracle and/or Vista applications is preferred.
- A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and willingness to learn and become proficient in other similar systems is required.
- Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is in a busy office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft to remote locations for overnight and/or multi-day work trips.
