HR Generalist

Mat-Su Health Services is seeking a Human Resource Generalist to join our team!

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist supports the overall mission of the agency by assisting with a wide range of HR activities in the areas of recruitment, benefits administration, health and safety, compliance notifications and reporting, and employee relations management. The incumbent works collaboratively with staff, supervisors, and Department Directors.  

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for the agency’s recruitment process, including, but not limited to, internal and external job postings, reviewing resumes, and answering inquiries.
  • Assists with identifying, securing, and implementing alternate recruitment resources. Audit posting lists regularly to ensure postings are current.  
  • Administers the agency’s applicant tracking system.
  • Tracks student placements and ensures compliance with placement requirements.
  • Administers FMLA, COBRA, short-term disability benefits, and similar programs.
  • Administers OSHA/Worker’s Compensation and associated respective reporting requirements.
  • Participates in administering the agency’s 401K retirement plan, including employee enrollment and deactivation, year-end compliance testing, and loan requests.
  • Assists with regulatory/HR reporting requirements to assure compliance with labor and wage/hour laws.
  • This position cross-trains in all functions to ensure HR Department services are performed in a timely and seamless manner, including but not limited to:
    • the new hire and onboarding process;
    • benefit communication and enrollment;
    • scheduling and coordination of mandatory training sessions;
    • background check activities; and
    • the administration of the agency’s online policy management system.

  • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of hiring processes
  • Strong knowledge of benefits administration

  • Customer-focused attitude with a high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Tolerance for multiple demands
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with department directors and supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently, observe client/staff/proprietary information confidentiality requirements, remain self-motivated, and promote cooperation and cohesiveness among coworkers.
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs (MS Office suite)

Working Conditions:

  • A fast-paced working environment often requires rapid transition, change, and focus.
  • Work is performed primarily in a heated, ventilated, well-lighted office environment.
  • Job is considered low-risk for hazard exposure.
  • MSHS is a non-smoking campus.

  • Requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting under 50 lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate standard office and other equipment or appliances.
  • Requires normal range of hearing, vocalization ability, and vision acuity.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with additional education in Human Resources Management.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources or a combination of post-secondary education and experience.   
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification or certification eligible status.

General Requirements:

  • Clear background check (subject to DHSS background check)
  • Current driver’s license; clean driving record
  • Current tuberculosis screening test result
  • First Aid, CPR, and CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certifications must be obtained when offered through the agency; may substitute the current MANDT certificate for CPI.
