The Human Resource Generalist performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, recruiting, employment law, vendor management, benefits management, payroll functions, general administration and leave of absence administration.

• Maintains all employee personnel and medical files; performs audits as required
• Track, manage and administer all leave of absence (FMLA, WC) requests.
• Coach, counsel and guide shift leaders on Williamsburg Manufacturing rules and expectations before recommending employee disciplinary actions. Consult with HR Manager on complex or unclear situations.
• Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings if necessary.
• Assists with recruitment tasks as needed (posts internal job bids, logs applicants).
• Monitors tardy and absenteeism; complies reports and ensures proper documentation is issued for employees who have unexcused tardiness or absenteeism. Reports vacation, sick, and holiday use for payroll and scheduling. Maintains and distributes report of same.
• Monitor employee performance evaluations for all full time and temporary hourly associates, and ensures they are completed on schedule.
• Update, monitor and maintain HRIS systems including payroll, employee master file and time keeping
• Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation or changes.
• Administers COBRA for group health plans.
• Lead new hire orientation for full time and temporary associates. Collaborate with HR Manager and HSE&T Coordinator for content and management
• Support Williamsburg Mfg. Human Resources systems and policies in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee’s Charter, as well as Federal, State and local regulation
• Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant management and associates; maintain positive employee relations; listen to issues and concerns and respond (C48) within 48 hours
• Promote and practice “safety first” by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions within the department
• Help maintain the Williamsburg Mfg. Employee Handbook and ensure that it is followed throughout the Division
• Complete correspondence, forms and reports in Microsoft Office and other required programs
• Handle confidential information on a regular basis
• Promote and facilitate Open Door process without reprisal, effective communication and Fair Treatment
• Participate in Continual Improvement activities
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Experience with the following software programs:
• WorkDay
• ADP (Enhanced Time; Workforce Now), Ceridian DayForce
• Microsoft Office (Word – basic; Excel – intermediate; Power Point – intermediate; Outlook – intermediate)
Required Education and Experience
• 3+ years of experience in a Human Resources function and Associate's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
OR
• Five years of experience in a Human Resources function
• Experience in all of the following functional areas: leave of absence administration; payroll processing and administration; employee relations; staffing management and recruiting; benefits and compensation program administration; HRIS administration; retirement program administration.
