Job Description:
The HR coordinator is responsible for the coordination and supervision of personnel and benefits staff and is responsible for personnel transactions and payroll administration for professional and classified personnel services while ensuring compliance with regulations and laws that govern these functions. This position is responsible for guiding benefits and payroll. This position will run data reports, and initiate the development of action plans, problem-resolution strategies, and other initiatives related to personnel and benefits. This position has the authority to assist in determining, creating, and affecting policy for SUNY Poly. Other reasonable duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of SUNYHR personnel transaction administration, such as establishing appropriate checks and balances (internal controls) to ensure payroll, SUNY, and OSC compliance and accuracy. Oversee the administration of payment for wages, disability, and other benefits; review and address moving expense reimbursement requests to ensure compliance.
  • Coordination and oversight of all SUNYHR data entry adhering to internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with State and SUNY rules, laws, and regulations. Responsible for all negotiated salary increases including equity, compression and inversion, negotiated and discretionary salary increases. This position is also responsible for benchmarking and compensation analysis as well as compiling and managing payroll data.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and direction to personnel, benefits, and payroll staff to batch a complete payroll and all personnel transactions with minimal to no errors, and work with the supervisor to implement more efficient processes for payroll and personnel administration processing. Communicate with administrators and employees payroll-related issues; provide customer service to all SUNY Poly staff on payroll and personnel-related transactions. Oversee benefits management. Responsible for assuring goals, program activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies.
  • Oversee the flow of documents relevant to HR transactions and the audit process to ensure all files are maintained in a compliant and organized manner. Responsible for the generation of transactional correspondence with employees. Will coordinate the work flow through benefits and payroll.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned which may include coordination of some employee related events working with other offices and HR staff.

Salary: $62,000 - $72,000

Payroll (payroll examiner 2, Human Resources Assistant) and benefits (Human Resources assistant, health benefits administrator) staff report to this position; and may supervise others.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization;
  • Minimum of three to five years of professionally responsible experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel administration;
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's license.
