Our model embeds college and high school students alongside teachers to provide co-teaching instructional support to underserved elementary students, addressing the need for immediate high-impact tutoring while also cultivating a pipeline of homegrown future educators through direct classroom experience. Over the past two years, we have grown from a staff of three to over 20, forming major school district partnerships that have engaged over 400 tutors to serve 35,000 elementary students. Job Description
Houston, Texas-based position. Full-Time Exempt.
Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000.
We are looking for an experienced and visionary leader to join our team as HRBP. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting a positive company culture, enhancing management practices, setting a clear vision for staff professional development, establishing norms and values, and cultivating leadership competencies across the organization. As HRBP, you will also be responsible for resolving personnel issues. You will work closely with the CEO and other members of the leadership team to identify challenges and needs of the staff to ensure that our team is working together efficiently and aligned with our core values.
Responsibilities
Staff Recruiting:
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract, select, and onboard top talent.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and ensure a streamlined recruitment process.
- Lead the full life cycle of recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and offer negotiations.
Employee Relations:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing guidance on HR-related matters.
- Address and resolve employee concerns, conflicts, and workplace issues in a fair and timely manner.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture through effective communication and relationship-building.
Training and Development:
- Design and implement training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of employees.
- Identify training needs through performance evaluations and consultation with department heads.
Compensation and Benefits Planning:
- Conduct regular market analysis to ensure the organization's compensation and benefits remain competitive.
- Provide guidance on salary negotiations, bonus structures, and incentive programs.
Legal Compliance:
- Stay informed about federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices are in compliance with legal requirements.
- Advise leadership on potential legal risks and provide proactive solutions.
Performance Management:
- Lead the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback sessions.
- Collaborate with managers to address performance issues and implement improvement plans.
- Support the development and implementation of performance improvement initiatives.
Organizational Development:
- Identify opportunities for organizational development and change management.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Foster a positive organizational culture that aligns with the company's values and goals.
Policy Creation:
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures to align with best practices and legal requirements.
- Communicate policies to employees and ensure understanding and compliance.
Office Management:
- Oversee office operations to ensure a safe, productive, and comfortable work environment.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to manage facilities, vendor relationships, and office-related projects.
Other Duties as Required
Prior Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in HR or a similar people operations role.
Work Demands
- Occasional weekends and evening work required
- Regular attendance is required
Skills
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Proven experience in staff recruiting, employee relations, training and development, compensation and benefits planning, legal compliance, performance management, organizational development, policy creation, and office management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with employees at all levels.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency using common technology tools like Slack, Gmail & Google Suite
