Position:Human Resources Business Partner
Location: Lexington, TN
Position Overview: Reporting to the Sr. HR Manager, the Human Resources Business Partner will administer the day-to-day tactical operations of the Human Resources department by managing, administering, and supporting the Human Resources policies, procedures, and programs. This role will also support the Sr. HR Manager with higher level business needs in employee relations, retention efforts, organizational design, and taking an active role in supporting change management strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as credible coach and Business Partner to leadership and supervisors within the Lexington, TN manufacturing facility (non-union) and La Vergne, TN warehouse (non-union).
- Manage and execute HR programs & projects independently and as part of cross-functional teams that address organizational needs and goals.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues within the business unit and across the enterprise (e.g., Talent, Compensation, Recruiting, Payroll, Field HR) to drive implementation of HR projects and initiatives as directed by the Sr. HR Manager.
- A true hands-on approach as well as the ability to successfully monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement, and partner with leaders to drive a values-based performance culture.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating employee’s physical records as well as digital records in our HR Information Management Systems (HRIS), Success Factors, and ADP.
- Works with payroll specialist to submit, verify, approve, and process bi-weekly payroll.
- Process new hires, status changes, and terminations in a timely and accurate manner in the HRIS system.
- Provide new hire HR onboarding orientation; reviews policies and procedures, collects and submits I-9 documentation, provides badge access to the facility, and assists with benefits enrollment and collecting required documentation.
- Monitor and process leave of absences in conjunction with our contracted leave of absence vendor; responsible for ensuring time and tracking are updated appropriately in our time management system, ADP eTime.
- Recruit, select, promote non-exempt talent, and onboard both exempt and non-exempt talent.
- Enter and monitor per-employment drug and background screenings.
- Organize and/or assist in organizing and promoting company sponsored employee events, service award program, community activities, etc.
- Explain company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees.
- Assists Sr. HR Manager in employee relations, conducting investigations, retention efforts, plantwide communications, organizational design, talent and performance review, and compensation and merit strategy.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
- Advanced in office applications and software, as well as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)
- A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to think abstractly to deal with ambiguous/undefined problems.
- Experience creating and generating Excel spreadsheets (e.g., V-lookup, graphs, pivot tables).
- Demonstrate independent judgment, decision making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
- Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group or townhall meetings.
- Ability to work flexible schedule as needed to accommodate multiple sites/shifts
- Ability to travel up 10%
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field.
- 5+ years of HR experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
- Strong computer skills required (Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with EEO / harassment investigations and general workplace complaint resolution
- Excellent communication skills, and the ability to act independently
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with employees at all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a generalist role, or having experience in more than one functional area in HR.
- HR Certification: PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or SHRM-CSP.
- Experience in HRIS, specifically Success Factors.
- Knowledge of Tennessee employment law.
