This position is located in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), Joint Administrative Operations (JAO), Human Resources Division. This position serves as a Human Resources (HR) Assistant providing a full range of support services in one or more of the following areas: Payroll Processing, Personnel Action Processing, and Electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF). The HR Assistant provides support services to other Service Deliver Areas to address backlogs or excessive workload.Qualifications: Only experience and education obtained by 05/06/2021 will be considered.
In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualifications.
Minimum Qualification GS-6
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Examples of experience include: Reviewing or processing requests for personnel actions; Researching, correcting, and validating pay transactions; and utilizing office automation and various program applications in order to research information; and review requests for Personnel Actions (SF-52s) to input the correct nature of action and remarks from the Guide to Processing Personnel Actions.
Minimum Qualifications GS-7
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service. Examples of experience include: Conducts the technical and regulatory review of the full range of personnel actions including appointments, conversions, promotions, reassignments, realignments, leave without pay, change in tenure group, etc.; Researches the Guide to Processing Personnel Actions, 5 Code of Regulations (CFR), Office of Personnel Management (OPM) guidance, and agency policies and procedures to apply and follow regulatory guidance and procedures in the processing of personnel actions; Generates Standard Form 50 (SF-50), Notification of Personnel Action, and reviews it for accuracy and completeness; and Inputs and processes various personnel/payroll actions and transactions (e.g., Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) Election, State and Federal tax withholding forms, Direct Deposit, allotments) timely and accurately in a personnel system.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
