JOB SUMMARY:
Merits Health Products, Inc. is the U.S. headquarters for a medical mobility device manufacturer.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources the Human Resource and Safety Manager performs a variety of functions within the department including, strategic design and implementation of HR initiatives including organizational design, talent acquisition and leadership development, succession planning, employee engagement, change management and employee and supervisory training, policy development and deployment and general Employee Relations. benefits, and leave, and Environmental Health and Safety best practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leaves; disciplinary matters, disputes, and investigations; performance and talent management, productivity, recognition and morale, training & development, and corporate communications.
- Partner with Senior Leaders as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning . Assess and determine talent requirements needed to prepare for growth initiatives.
- Strong presence and business acumen.
- Partners with the leadership team to as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Provides support and guidance to department managers when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to manage delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Manages the talent acquisition process, which include recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of qualified job applicants for exempt, and nonexempt roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Counsel's employees relative to employment policies, programs, and benefits.
- Identifies learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. Provides appropriate training to employees as needed.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Lead safety initiatives, administer safety requirements and policies, and conduct routine safety audits, training and meetings in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Develops Safety Training to include information about what to do in emergency situations (including how to exit the building and how to report incidents).
- Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines.
- Analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
- Review, maintain, and update the Safety Manual.
- Plans and participates company functions
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the daily workflow and performance for the HR, Office Admin
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of 5-8 years of human resource management experience preferred.
- A minimum of three years of direct supervisory experience required.
- Multi-state workforce management experience.
- Human Resources certification (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP) highly desired.
PHYSICAL DEMAND AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
