Job Description
Prometheus Federal Services (PFS), a trusted partner to federal health and social services agencies, is seeking a Human Resource Generalist. The position provides HR-related support to business teams and corporate functional areas, which may include but is not limited to onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, benefits, leave management, and talent acquisition. The HR Generalist and the team support the day-to-day people-related services, policies, and programs and report to the Senior Director of HR.
The selected candidate must reside in the U.S. Prefer the candidate to be in the Washington, D.C., metro area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Familiar with various personnel policies and programs regarding employees (e.g., changes, termination, employment verification, orientation, onboarding, leave management, workers’ compensation, FMLA, etc.)
- Complies with record-keeping procedures (e.g., maintaining files, offers, agreements, background, and drug checks) for the purpose of conforming to policies, relevant laws, and agreements. Informs supervisor of non-compliance.
- Supports annual HR compliance requirements.
- Supports new-employee orientation, onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, counseling, outplacement, and exit process.
- Maintains department records and reports. Participates in team meetings and networks in the HR community.
- May recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements.
- Responds to written and verbal inquiries from various internal and external sources to resolve problems, provide information, and/or refer to the appropriate person and/or identify the relevant issues and recommend or implement a plan.
- Supports the team on processes, procedures, and policies, ensuring that best practices are followed.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in HR or related field.
- 4 to 6 years of Human Resources experience.
- HR certification (e.g., PHR) is preferred.
- Able to build working relationships with bold internal and external customers.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Under advisement, able to handle employee conflicts and differences.
- Basic business acumen and the ability to understand business strategy and goals.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and ADP Workforce Now.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship indefinitely.
