Position Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resource/Compensation Specialist works closely with the Human Resource/Compensation Administrator and the Vice President/Human Resources in the development, coordination, and execution of Human Resources and employee payroll within GreenState Credit Union. This includes, but is not limited to, a wide variety of payroll functions such as: compliance, payroll processing, training, and researching.

Salary range for this position is $79,173.90 - $92,563.38
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are
not limited to those listed, and are subject to change.
1. Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in carrying out GreenState's mission and vision.
2. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times, greeting members and guests with a smile and eye contact immediately upon their arrival, using their name or acknowledging them, and thanking them for their business.
3. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.
5. Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.
6. Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or credit union sponsored events, on an annual basis.
7. Ensures compliance with all State and Federal legal regulations concerning employment and payroll. Responsible for the proper, accurate and timely completion of regulatory reporting associated with required regulations.
8. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure that all GreenState operates within the legal framework of government legislation.
9. Manages end-to-end payroll processing, including data entry, calculations, and disbursements.
10. Calculate and process employee salaries, wages, bonuses, commissions, and overtime accurately. They ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries, including direct deposits, checks, or other payment methods.
11. Maintains accurate employee information records, including personal details, tax withholding, and banking information.
12. Calculate and withhold the correct amount of federal, state, and local income taxes, as well as Social Security and Medicare contributions. Assists with quarterly and annual reconciliation of returns.
13. Process, track and verify timecards, overtime and paid time off.
14. Prepares and submits all necessary paperwork for tax deductions and garnishments.
15. Maintains accurate and organized payroll records in physical and electronic formats. Prepare and retain payroll reports, including pay stubs and W-2 forms.
16. Assists with regular audits of payroll records to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy. Reconciles payroll accounts and resolves any discrepancies promptly.
17. Prepare and distribute annual tax forms (W-2s) to employees. Assist with year-end payroll reconciliations and reporting.
18. Engages in positive partnership and staffing relations by providing coaching, training and guidance on GreenState policies and procedures, best practices, compliance, etc.
19. Responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and provide exceptional customer service.
20. Assists with review of payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
21. Create and run custom reports as requested.
22. Collaborates with HR and benefits to ensure accurate processing of new hires, terminations, and employee changes.
23. Collaborates with Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, IT, and other teams/departments as needed.
24. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals, as needed. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department.
25. Researches and works with third party vendors to develop new programs and/or Human Resource and payroll processes.
Job Requirements/Expectations
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Associate's Degree in Business, finance, or related field; or equivalent coursework, or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum 5+ years' experience processing multi-state payroll.
3. Knowledge of multi-state and federal payroll and employment laws, regulations and statues.
4. Prior ADP system and custom reporting experience preferred.
5. Reports to work punctually, works all scheduled hours, and works overtime as necessitated by business demand.
6. Proficiency in a wide variety of personal computer software programs, including ADP and Microsoft Office application suite with advanced Excel Skills.
7. Extreme attention to detail and need for a prominent level of accuracy.
8. Strong analytical skills with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
9. Ability to coordinate and prioritize large, detailed project requirements and schedules.
10. Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a time sensitive environment.
11. Self directed nature, ability to work independent of supervision, and ability to collaborate and follow directions.
12. Ability to work well with others in a demanding work schedule.
13. Ability to research, develop and create innovative programs.
14. Maturity and discretion to handle confidential information.
15. Must be bondable.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Vice President/Human Resources.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
