PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide dynamic leadership and guidance to ensure a clean, safe, healthy, and environmentally sound workplace exists and is maintained.
  • Partner with site leadership and employees to problem solve and ensure corrective actions are completed and validated so the desired outcome is achieved to prevent or eliminate potential reoccurrence of incidents.
  • Attend and participate in meetings.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with employees and leadership.
  • Lead HSE incident investigations to identify root causes for significant incidents, develop a plan based on the results of the investigation, implement necessary changes to eliminate or minimize the opportunity for recurrence, and communicate to all affected employees.
  • Ensure required HSE-related trainings, inspections and audits are performed and proper corrective action is taken when necessary.
  • Provide continual evaluation of facility HSE processes, methods, and activities to assure the safest, most effective use of resources and equipment.
  • Increase awareness and provide support for a healthy working environment and general well-being in the form of communication, resources, relationships, and education.
  • Educate our workforce to reinforce each employee’s understanding and importance of their HSE roles and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with our contractors, vendors, and suppliers to adopt effective HSE principles and practices.
  • Minimize adverse environmental impacts of our work activities, products, and services by adopting energy and resource-efficient practices, where practical.
  • Maintain all required HSE records and ensure mandatory reporting requirements are met.
  • Manage department budget and expenditures.
  • Perform other work related tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years experience in occupational health, safety and environmental affairs preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage the Safety team and interact with employees at all levels
  • Strong analytical, influencing and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives
  • Strong time management, organization, and planning skills
  • Willingness to travel to various company locations as needed
